How to cancel Equifax

We first featured TransUnion and Experian in our step-by-step guides to canceling pesky credit agency subscriptions. Equifax rounds out our list. As it turns out, it’s the easiest to cancel of them all.

While it may not be advertised, Equifax makes it pretty easy to cancel their monthly subscription. At Penny, we discovered that you don’t need to sign into your account or wait on hold — simply send an email.

Cancel Equifax by email

Send an email to customer.care@equifax.com with the subject line “Immediate Cancellation”. Include the email address that you used to sign up for the account. You will receive a confirmation email with the details of your cancellation.

Cancel Equifax by phone

Alternatively, you can cancel over the phone by calling them (866) 243-8181. You can call seven days a week between 8am and 3am EST.

Don’t forget to keep a record of your cancellation just in case the subscription isn’t canceled and you have to contact Equifax again. If you cancel through email, you should have an email record. If you cancel over the phone, write down the confirmation number, the date you called in, and the representative’s name and email the information to yourself for future reference.
